A farandole of figurines with cute details that will put your smile back in a glance: akabeko, small characters and landscapes.
Okiagari koboshi is a local craft from the Aizu region. This region is also the region of the akabeko (red cow in the local dialect). It is a tumbler made of clay and papier-mâché (hariko). For 400 years, they have been sold in Aizu for New Years Day. The Craftswoman is located in Tokaichi City.
The name means he gets up and therefore invites to overcome difficulties. You can also let him lie down, which may mean he will get up later. It’s a message of hope. Traditionally, each year it can be purchased for each member of the family. If we buy one more, it means that we hope the family will grow.
